TV News: Breaking Bad Back in July

Yesterday AMC announced its summer programming schedule which includes the much anticipated fifth and final season of Breaking Bad. After a whirlwind four seasons, numerous awards, and much critical acclaim Breaking Bad will sadly be coming to an end. The final season will be split into two parts, the first consisting of 8 episodes beginning July 15, 2012 and the second consisting of another 8 episodes that will air Summer 2013. According Aaron Paul season five will be “hands down the craziest one yet” which, if you’ve watched the show, is pretty hard to believe!

Breaking Bad follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with lung cancer in season one. White begins cooking methamphetamine with a former student, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), in order to pay for his medical bills and secure his family’s future after his death, and ultimately finds himself in far over his head within the drug world. If this show has proved anything in the first four seasons, season five is bound to be exceptionally well written and chop full of plot lines that will leave viewers begging for more.

I can’t decide if I’m happy or mad that they’ve decided to extend the final season over two parts. On one side I’m happy it won’t be ending quite so soon, yet on another I’m desperate to find out how it ends already! What do you think?

Breaking Bad premieres Sunday July 15 at 10/9c on AMC
