Despite the very dark and dreary tone of the latest, full length trailer for Netflix’s season two of Daredevil, there are a number of reasons to be excited. Sure, we may have to finally come to terms with the red suit not coming close to the simple bad ass nature of his homemade black one from last year, but we also have Jon Bernthal who looks to absolutely kill it as Punisher. Foggy yelling at Matt Murdoch again for whatever nonsense can be remedied by the much needed presence of Claire Temple (who hopefully gets more screen-time this year).
And then there’s that Elektra shot at the end!
My point being that I, like many other fans, have my own personal gripes with the show. I never thought that Daredevils supporting characters were ever as strong as it’s lead (something that Jessica Jones excelled at) but Charlie Cox as Matt, the fight choreography and the beaten down atmosphere of the Hell’s Kitchen they inhabit was more than enough to make up for the lesser quality’s. Now, with Bernthal, we’ll hopefully have another character with enough intrigue to carry his own scenes. It will be interesting to see Punisher vs. Daredevil in terms of their own beliefs about morality, especially as Matt has already had to grapple with what he perceives to be right and wrong in season one.
