5 Questions We Had After the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 7 Premiere

Spencer, Hanna, Aria, Emily and the rest of the gang was back this week with a new episode of Pretty Little Liars. Following on from the epic season 6 finale whereby we saw Hanna get abducted by our new main villain A.D. and found out that Jessica DiLaurentis’ sister and Cece’s mom, Mary Drake, as well as Alison’s new husband Elliot Rollins were working with A.D.

This week’s episode has the girls, along with Caleb, Ezra, Toby and Mona searching for Hanna as well as trying to solve the mystery of who really killed Charlotte in just 24 hours. But because this is Pretty Little Liars just as soon as it began we were left with new questions and mysteries.

Here is our top questions from the première, ‘Tick-Tock Bitches’:

1. Should we start hoping for Emison?

The romance between Emily and Alison has been teased for many seasons, with it first beginning with what seemed like an unrequited crush from Emily’s side to Alison admitting that she had feelings for Emily too. And then there were the kisses and that hot make out session in Emily’s bed. Even though Alison got married last season, dashing shippers hopes, it seems her new husband might not have been the best decision for her. Emily’s reluctance to turn Alison in, and her flashback of the moments the two shared have us hoping that this might be the season that Emison is brought to light again.

2. Whose grave are the girls digging?

The episode began with Emily, Aria and Spencer digging a grave while crying, and Spencer referring to what happened as ‘first degree murder’. Notably absent were Hanna and Alison; both of whose fates were up in the air this episode with Hanna being ‘saved’ from escaping A.D’s clutches by Mary Drake and Alison being given a somewhat lethal injection by her husband, Elliot. Maybe it’s someone that they kill themselves? Or another member of the extended gang?

3. Are Ezra and Aria a thing again?

Last season the relationship between Ezra and Aria became murky when they slept together after years apart – even though she’s still dating Liam. They have a bit of awkward conversation this episode and she ends up returning to Ezra saying she just wants to be with him, as well as avoiding Liam’s call. Does this mean Ezria is on the rise again, just like all the other original ships? They sure seemed pretty cozy.

4. What’s the history with Spencer’s parents and Mary?

In a tense moment in the episode, Mary Drake comes to the Hastings household for a visit. Even though there is no one home other than Spencer, she tells her that she used to have a lot in common with her parents. Spencer presses her for details, but she does not reveal much, which leaves us to wonder what exactly took place between the Hastings and Mary all those years ago. Was it perhaps a shared dislike of Jessica Dilaurentis, who had an affair with Peter, which caused Mary and Veronica to bond?

5. Who really killed Charlotte?

Just because the guilty party is rarely the first person that the characters suggest, we are going to assume that it is not Alison that killed Charlotte. But that leaves the mystery open to who truly did the deed. With the producers saying we will find out in the second half of the season, it still gives us plenty of time to speculate and allow the theory buffs to do their thing.
