The last time we saw Sam and Dean Winchester in Supernatural, they had just been arrested for the attempted assignation of the president. To be fair, it’s a total misunderstanding involving Lucifer and a Lucifer-possessed president, but it doesn’t look like the black-ops team that arrested the brothers are going to care.
The new promo for “First Blood,” the mid-season 12 premiere, gives off some serious season two vibes, but it’s a more hardcore situation than Victor Henrikson and his righteous vendetta against the Winchesters. So much so that Sam and Dean are in some need of rescuing. Enter Cas and Mary.
If there was any reason for Mary to return, it’s her boys being in trouble. The fact she’s teaming up with Castiel not only makes sense, but also will expand on Cas and Mary’s moment of bonding in the season 12 premiere. Doesn’t look like anything supernatural is going on here, but there’s still the potential new nephilim on the horizon and the British Men of Letters to be wary of. “First Blood” might not tackle those situations quite yet, considering the brothers are currently “in a place that doesn’t officially exist.”
Supernatural returns at a new time 8/7 central January 26.
