Rooster Teeth’s big birthday announcements

Rooster Teeth is now a 13-year-old company, which is about the number of years I was alive when I started watching their pilot series Red vs. Blue. Very trippy.

Every year on their anniversary, April 1, they often announce their upcoming slate of shows for the year, and they’ve been particularly hush-hush on certain projects as of late. It seems the company has taken a strong liking to the reception of their short form live action series’ like A Million Dollars but, and is taking a step away from the long form narrative with their biggest series.

With the introduction of Red Vs. Blue’s 14th season, we’re treated to a soothing narration by Vic, the programer that hasn’t been seen since season five of the series. The trailer, in a very Douglas Adams style of going about things, shows us a window floating in space, promising new adventures, hinting at something that could be interpreted as a whole new cast of characters. And then that window is crashed into by a Pelican ship, with the reds and blues able to be heard screaming at one another.

The trailer then promises inclusions of various animators and personalities from the Rooster Teeth family, from Funhaus to Immersion to Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures, as well as new, unexpected talents including the creators of iZombie Chris Roberson and Allison Baker, Ready Player One author Ernest Klein, and the notorious let’s play group Game Grumps, plus the current series director Miles Luna will be joined by series creators Burnie Burns and Matt Hullum. All of these personalities will be making short form stories in the Red vs. Blue universe in a broad range of mediums as opposed to the series’ episodic narrative seen up to this point.

In addition to the announcement of RvB season 14 is the announcement of a spin off of the popular anime series RWBY, seeing the same characters, but in chibi form, so it’s 100 percent guaranteed to be a lot cuter than it was before.

The newest addition to Rooster Teeth’s brand is a traditionally animated comedy series Camp Camp.

Camp Camp is an all-new Rooster Teeth animated series that features humor and tone that might be described as South Park meets Gravity Falls. Camp Camp tells the story of Max, a jaded 10 year old, who finds himself stuck at a dysfunctional summer camp run by a shady business mogul who is looking to turn a profit any way he can. The cynical Max will have to survive the weird cast of campers, bizarre surprises at every turn, and an annoyingly cheerful camp counselor before he can escape for home.
