After Drisella made her exit in “Sisterhood,” it was assumed that the characters’ lives in Hyperion Heights would be getting back to normal. That wasn’t the case in “Breadcrumbs,” especially for leading man Henry.
Everyone around him has been sneaky since the beginning of his time in the cursed land of Hyperion Heights. This includes his former best friend from the magical realm, Jack (and the Beanstalk). It took them awhile to garner a friendship in Hyperion Heights but over the last few episodes we have been seeing more of Jack, and now we know why: He’s the new bad guy in the remaining episodes of Once Upon A Time.
It’s questionable that the writers would bring another villain into the mix with only a handful of episodes left, but maybe instead of breaking Henry’s curse, this is just another obstacle the writers want their characters to overcome.
Anyway, it was revealed in “Sisterhood” that Jack was hunting down the witches one-by-one. Since Drisella was able to go back to her realm, Jack has been dormant, plotting his next move. While this is happening behind-the-scenes, Rumple and Hook are trying to figure out who the killer is and apparently Jack is using Henry’s book as a catalyst for his murders.
Rumple finds Henry’s “Once Upon A Time” book at the latest crime scene and turns to Henry for help. They learn the killer was obsessed with the story of Hansel and Gretel. Henry puts two and two together and realizes that the murderer wants to be included in the happy ending.
Of the entirety of Once Upon A Time, everyone has happy endings except for Hansel and Gretel because Gretel dies at the hand of a witch. This is exactly what Jack is doing. He is killing witches to get revenge for killing Gretel in their former realm. Now, Henry, Hook, and Rumple are trying to figure out who in Hyperion Heights has a connection to the story. Little do they know that Jack is playing them right under their noses.
Before all of this happened, Henry got an interview for a job that would take him to New York and away from Hyperion Heights and his family. After Jacinda tells him to go, Henry continues to battle what he really wants and every time he tries to get on the plane for New York, something stops him.
In the end, he should have continued on his way to the airport.

Jack pulls up after Henry gets a flat tire and tells him he can give him a ride to the airport. Instead, Henry realizes he wants Jacinda over the new job prospect and has Jack drive him to her instead. In the ride over, Jack stabs Henry in the neck with a syringe, knocking him out.
At Jack’s apartment, he reveals that his real name is Hansel. This is weird because when Jack’s character was first introduced he was Jack and the Beanstalk. Either that was a continuity error on the writers behalf or Jack was faking his name the entire time. Waiting for clarity on that.
Anyway, Jack reveals to a tied-up Henry that he won’t be turning himself into the police because he’s not done killing just yet. He leaves Henry to deliver chocolates to his next victim, Zelena.
If you recall she and Regina are the last two witches left in Hyperion Heights. This means instead of trying to get back to Storybrooke and the land viewers and characters fell in love with for six years, we’re going to have to watch as Regina, Hook, Rumple, and Zelena save Henry once again before everyone can get their happily ever after.
