In the heart of the Undercity, the party was given instructions by a woman covered in bandages all over named Debora the Cutear. The job was simple enough: get on board one of the South Line trains and rob the gnome conductor of his blue crystal – the device needed in order to operate the trains and pass as a conductor. Such a thing would be vital to The Queen’s smuggling operations.

The party decided their best bet would be to board the train late at night when there would hardly be any witnesses, then try to deceive and distract the gnome. Karnov and Alexandrus pulled off this job miraculously by posing as train inspectors… but they didn’t have a plan for removing the actual crystal from its socket. Flint tried to bash the thing out with his axe… but this caused a trap to knock him out and kick the train back in motion. Pandemonium ensued as the gnome made his way back to the train, Merit tried to intercept, Merit went down, Ori grabbed the crystal and stopped the train, the gnome grabbed the crystal and ran and then to top it all off, a great land shark appeared.

So there they were: two allies down, the gnome on the run, and a great big Bullete on the scene. The heroes had to do some finessing in order to stop the gnome and his magic tricks while also avoiding certain death at the hands of the large, tunneling beast. Eventually, the party persevered, acquiring the crystal as well as some nice new magic items to boot. They reported to The Queen, got their rewards, and leveled up! Now they’re ready to explore the city at will and get into even more mischief.
