Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (October 27)
The third part of the revived Wolfenstein series reunites players with everyone’s favorite American operative, William “B. J.” Blazkowicz, once again fighting Nazis in an alternate reality. This time, in turn, he won’t return to Castle Wolfenstein – instead, he will help in starting a New American Revolution back home in the Nazi-occupied United States. Players will get the chance to take a walk in the America of the 1960s – but in a very pressing one, with German soldiers and their robotic aids all over the place. And if the game is anything like the previous two in the series, we’re in for an amazing story.
Call of Duty: WWII (November 3)
Call of Duty is one of the longest-running war-themed first-person shooter series ever. The first part of the series, Call of Duty, was released in 2003, followed by a sequel in 2005, and since then, a new game was added to the series pretty much every year. 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War was the series’ last World War II-themed games – until now, of course. Because with its latest title, the game returns to its roots.
Call of Duty: WWII is set in the European theater of war between the years 1944 and 1945. It follows the adventures (can we even call them that?) of a squad of 12 men at a time when the Allied forces started to gather strength and march into Germany. The game will take players across the Nazi-occupied France and Belgium, and across the Rhine river valley into the heart of Germany.
4K Games on Xbox One X (November 7)
One of the things dedicated PC gamers keep bragging about to their console-using counterparts is high-resolution gaming. After the release of Xbox One X, though, true 4K gaming will come in the homes of its owners. Microsoft claims that its new console will be the “strongest in the world” – we’ll see about that soon enough.
The new console comes with a lineup of exclusive 4K games. The titles announced to be available at launch are Forza Motorsport 7, Super Lucky’s Tale (an indie 3D platformer video game developed by Playful), State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, and Sea of Thieves, a “fantastical world of pirates, danger and discovery” developed by Rare.
