Nintendo Direct 3/8: All the Highlights!

The time has finally come for a full fledged Nintendo Direct, and we have all the details on the reveals! This is just a brief overview, be sure to tune in to What the D-Pad, the weekly podcast hosted by the TYF Games team, at 9 PM EST on twitch.tv/tyfofficial!

• WarioWare Gold
  • Minigame collections (300 games)
  • Releases August 3rd for 3DS systems
• Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers (3DS)
  • Action/Tower Defense
  • Follow up to Dillon’s Rolling Western series
  • Demo May 10th
• Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey
  • Similar to Superstar Saga re-release, with a new side story.
• Detective Pikachu
  • Don’t forget this is coming out March 23rd, along with its big old amiibo!
• Luigi’s Mansion remade for 3DS!
  • Map on the bottom screen.
  • Boss rush mode included.
• Kirby Star Alies
  • Legacy characters can become allies too, from all over the Kirby history.
  • More added post launch, with the first batch shortly after launch.
• Okami HD
  • Hopefully you didn’t buy this for another console last year like I did.
• Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido
  • Online play confirmed
  • Will have a dual release on 3DS and Switch
• Octopath Traveler
  • They’re keeping the name!
  • New characters:
    • Tressa, the merchant
    • Alfyn, the apothecary
  • Jobs can be combined so the merchant skills could be combined with the apothecary skills, for example.)
  • Releases July 13th
  • A collector’s edition, complete with a diorama and replica coin, will release on the same day.
• Travis Strikes Back: No More Heroes
  • Seven different game modes, based on classic game styles.
  • Each game led by a special boss
  • Co-Op mode included
  • Adventure mode to tell the full story will be included as well.
• Dark Souls Remastered
  • Network Test coming before launch date of May 25th
  • First gameplay footage
  • Solaire of Astora amiibo will release the same day, and allow you to “praise the sun” as much as you’d like.

• Mario Tennis Aces
  • Four-player modes across various control schemes
  • Revised gameplay
    • Aim, then shoot- “Zone Shot”
  • Rackets can break from these shots
  • Zone speed is slowed down speed triggered by a Zone Shot
  • Special moves are governed by energy gauge
  • Trick shot, jump and then hit, fills the energy gauge
  • Special shot will plow through the opponent, but can still be blocked.
  • Simple rules mode will cut all this out and focus on classic gameplay.
  • Online Tournaments will be offered, can earn gear and even characters by participating.
  • Releases June 22nd
  • Pre-Launch Tournament will serve as a demo, details soon.
• Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
  • Levels based on Super Mario Odyssey 
  • Two Player mode across control schemes
  • 3DS version is also coming!
  • Releases July 13th
• Undertale
  • No release date, but hey, it’s coming!
• Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy
  • July 10th
  • All three games are on a single cartridge.

• Little Nightmares
  • Pac-Man mask with Pac-Man amiibo from Super Smash Bros.
  • All DLC included.
• South Park: The Fractured But Whole
  • What?
  • All DLC will have to be purchased as it’s not all out yet.
• Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
  • Arrives May 18th
