Okay Boston film enthusiasts, we’ve got a pretty cool giveaway for one lucky winner here, so participation is key. For screening passes, make sure to follow the link; however, one lucky fan will win a VIP package for a winner + four friends to get reserved seating, ME AND EARL movie t-shirts, and a $100 gift card to The Friendly Toast in Kendall Square. The screening is Tuesday, June 16th.

Sounds pretty great right?

So here’s the deal. To enter, all you have to do is write in the comment section about a fictional character that you’d like to be BFFs with. They can be from a television show, a book, a film or, hey, one of our writers even picked one from a video game. The contest ends Friday, June 12th so go, go, gooooo.

Check out who some of the TYF Staff picked as their choices along with the synopsis for the film and the trailer below. Personally, I’ve had a hard time picking who my choice would be. Part of me thinks Leslie Knope would be the BEST friend ever, but the Broad City girls seem pretty fun. However, then there’s childhood me who can’t deny how much I’d like to be friends with the Golden Trio from Harry Potter for a day.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, ME AND EARL AND THE DYING GIRL is the uniquely funny, moving story of Greg (Thomas Mann), a high school senior who is trying to blend in anonymously, avoiding deeper relationships as a survival strategy for navigating the social minefield that is teenage life.  He even describes his constant companion Earl (R.J. Cyler), with whom he makes short film parodies of classic movies, as more of a ‘co-worker’ than a best friend. But when Greg’s mom (Connie Britton) insists he spend time with Rachel (Olivia Cooke)–a girl in his class who has just been diagnosed with cancer–he slowly discovers how worthwhile the true bonds of friendship can be.

I would love to be BFFs with Tiny Cooper from Will Grayson, Will Grayson and Hold Me Closer. He’s just so full of life (all the good and the bad) and is kind of an inspiration. – Gabrielle Bondi

I wish I could be best friends with Tris Prior from the Divergent series. She’d do anything to protect the people that she cares about, and that’s an amazing thing. I’d also love to have a friend as loyal and brave as her. – Rachel Geiger

Video games are a unique medium for allowing you to feel more connected with a fictional world’s story and characters in a way that can’t be mimicked by film or television. In knowing that fact, Bioware (creators of Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age) allowed me to create and build my Commander Shepard in a quest to save the galaxy in the Mass Effect trilogy, with one of the most rich cast of characters I could ever think of as my team. The best of this crew: Garrus Vakarian, a Turian officer, a skilled weapons calibrator and the greatest smartass I could ever have pretended to get to know over 90 hours of adventuring through the Milky Way. The highest quality bromance, or romance if a player so chooses, with Garrus makes those little moments of dialogue worth having after slogging through waves of enemies. I wouldn’t like to be friends with Garrus, I already was before the galaxy exploded.   – Evan Griffin

This is a tough question because there are so many great characters out there. My current choice is Layla from Sarah Dessen’s Saint Anything. She is welcoming and loyal the instant she meets Sydney and that’s a great quality in a friend. Layla is also fun and quirky (she has a method for eating french fries, after all) and seems like she’d stand by me through anything. – Lauren Wengrovitz

I would adore being best friends with Stiles Stilinski from Teen Wolf. You couldn’t ask for a better friend–he’s smart, great for comic relief, and loyal to a fault. He’d do anything to protect the people he loves, regardless of the fact that he’s one human in a supernatural world.

Plus, people sometimes end up marrying their best friends, right? Good, just checking. – Bri Lockhart
