TV News: Smallville’s Kristin Kreuk To Star in The CW’s ‘Beauty & The Beast’ Pilot

More Beauty and the Beast news! Last week, we told you about two movie adaptations of Beauty and the Beast that are in the works. Now, it looks like The CW is going full-ahead with it’s Beauty and the Beast show. They announced today that Kristin Kreuk will star in the new television show.

Loosely based on the 1980s CBS series starring Linda Hamilton, CW’s Beauty and the Beast is described as a modern-day romantic love story with a procedural twist.
It centers on Catherine (Kreuk), a tough-minded NYPD Homicide Detective haunted by witnessing her mother’s murder 9 years ago and the killers’ quick demise at the hands of a Beast. After years of searching, Catherine finally finds the Beast, Vincent Koslow, the survivor of a military experiment that went disastrously wrong, and becomes the protector of his secret life as a bestial superhero.

It’s different take on the fairy tale compared to the upcoming movie adaptations of it. I haven’t seen the 1980s version, so I can’t really say much about it. I’m not a huge fan of the police procedural, but I am a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast. Hence, I’m willing to give it a chance. I’m also looking forward to see who else is cast in the show. I watched Smallville briefly and did like Kreuk. It’s nice to see her back in a lead role on television.
