The Young Folks was established in September 2010. We started with reviewing movies, music, books and television. Since then, we branched out into video games and started to report entertainment news. All the while, we’ve kept true to our mission to provide youthful and fresh perspectives on every aspect of pop culture.

We accept the following kind of editorial requests:
Film – We accept DVDs and screeners for all major motion picture releases. We consider independent films on a case-by-case basis. One major factor when it comes to considering indie films is if it will appeal to our young audience.
We also accept screening, press conference, and junket invites, based on our availability and our audience’s interest in what is being covered.
Music – We consider all music review requests on a case-by-case basis. We will accept mostly all popular music artist or band album review requests, especially those that are considered Pop, Rock, Alternative or Hip-Hop. Also, we accept requests to review concert DVDs of popular artists.
As for concerts, we accept requests to review or cover them, based on our availability and our audience’s interest in what is being covered.
Television – We consider DVDs and screeners for all major network or cable TV shows.
Video Games – We consider all video game review requests.
Books – We review YA books, but occasionally adult and middle grade books with some YA crossover. We accept ARCs, eGalleys, and finished copies (hardcover, paperback, eBooks) from major publishers. Self-published books and books from indie publishers are considered as well. We also accept author interview requests and guest posts on a case-by-case basis.
Events – We accept invitations to attend and cover major music, film, book, TV and/or pop culture events, based on our availability and our audience’s interest in the event(s). These include festivals, premieres, award ceremonies, conventions, conferences and etc.
Promotions – We accept offers to promote films, music, books, shows, video games and/ or events via exclusives, blog tours and/or giveaways. Again, we consider promotional opportunities based on our audience’s potential interest in what we’re promoting.
All reviews, promotions and coverage accepted are posted on TheYoungFolks.com in a timely manner. As well, they are promoted through our Twitter and Facebook pages.
