If you’re a fan of YA literature, you’ll be happy to know that there are some incredible YA book-to-movie adaptations coming out this year. One of these is the much anticipated sequel to Divergent, Insurgent, which hits theaters on March 20, 2015.
The trailer looks incredibly action-packed, and I can’t wait three more months until March to start getting excited for the upcoming release!
So to prepare, we are going to be hosting a re-read of Insurgent and Divergent through the months of January and February.
You might be asking, what exactly does this entail? Well, here’s your answer:
We will start by re-reading Insurgent in January. We’re going to be reading about 10 chapters per week, and each weekend I’ll be posting a recap of what was read and what I’m most looking forward to seeing in the movie. These will be done mostly by video-blog, but I’ll also post a short text recap.
Jan 1-10: Chapters 1 through 11
Jan 10-17: Chapters 12 through 22
Jan 17-24: Chapters 23 through 35
Jan 24-31: Chapters 35 through 47
February will follow a similar pattern, except we’ll be re-reading Divergent to refresh our memories for what came before Insurgent. (I know this seems backwards, but I personally feel as if I need a real reminder of Insurgent, whereas Divergent is much more fresh since the movie has already come out!)
To sum up the Divergent Series re-read, March 1st will be a re-watch of the Divergent movie, because we will finally be in the release month of Insurgent. I’ll be live-tweeting the movie, and would love for people to join in!
There will also be two Twitter chats in the month of January as we are re-reading Insurgent:
- The first will be on Saturday, January 17th at 3pm EST, where we’ll be talking about the first half of Insurgent (Chapters 1-22).
- The second will be on Saturday January 31st at 3pm EST to discuss the second half of Insurgent (Chapters 23-47).
These chats will take place on The Young Folks twitter account (@TYFOfficial). As I’m reading, I’ll also be posting thoughts on my personal account, so please feel free to follow me at @LRW2014 to chat about the re-read and get excited about the movie!
