The Critics Choice Awards aired live tonight on The CW. It’s the first major televised awards show of Oscar season. Earlier the awards push was kicked into gear with the Oscar nominations, but now we’ve got a good idea what critics, broadcast critics that is, find to be the best in film of 2012.
Silver Linings Playbook and Lincoln were big winners of the night. Of course, Daniel Day-Lewis was the most predictable win, and Jennifer Lawrence won thrice (Best Action Actress, Best Comedy Actress, Best Acting Ensemble for SLP). But the top winner of the night was Argo. After being totally and undeservedly snubbed by the Academy this morning, Ben Affleck went to win Best Director. It was no surprise then that Argo took home Best Picture. See what other films were the Critics’ Choice below.
