It’s finally here! Not the movie of course, but the teaser for the epic final entry in the Hobbit film trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. “The Hobbit” is easily my favorite of Tolkien’s books, and like many other fans of the book, we have been waiting for this solitary moment for over three years. This film will decide the fate of Middle-Earth, but just because this is a prequel to the Lord of the Rings trilogy doesn’t mean everything is going to turn out alright.
This poster was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), and it pretty much continues where we left off in the last film. Smaug, the giant and terrible, is heading towards this small river town to decimate it. But that is only the beginning. In the trailer, we get a better feel for all who are going to fight in what appears to be the greatest free-for-all in all of Middle-Earth. We see the goblins/orcs and their wolves/wargs. We see some very well-armored elves and dwarves, alongside some less-armored human men. We also see a very worried wizard and a scared hobbit. You have to remember, this is only a teaser, and a much needed on at that. Speaking from prior knowledge, we’ve only seen half of the the fighters in this all-out battle. I won’t spoil the rest, at least not until the full length trailer does that for me. For now, rewatch this teaser and start counting down the days until this gets released at Christmas. The count is 149 days in case you were wondering. Not like I’m keeping track or anything.
