Last month, producer Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) and author Diana Gabaldon were at New York Comic Con to talk about the upcoming Starz show, Outlander. Starz opened a new video showing 25 minutes of the Outlander panel and Q&A, which also includes concept art and behind-the-scenes video from the set!
The video begins with a behind-the-scenes montage, which is the true highlight of the video. We get our first look at Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, along with other cast members training and preparing for production. Heughan and Balfe leave a message to Outlander fans and just that bit shows how much chemistry the two have together. The rest of video is Moore and Gabaldon discussing the book, adaptation details and showing off some cool concept art. If you were worried that the story isn’t in the right hands, what Moore and Gabaldon say are definitely reassuring.
If you’re unfamiliar with the epic story of Outlander, the series spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure with the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
The show is currently filming in Scotland and will premiere on Starz in 2014.
Starz also released our first official look of Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser this week. Revel in its beauty.
