As a long time Bryan Fuller fan, seeing his name attached to just about anything perks my interest. From Pushing Daisies to Hannibal, Fuller works wonders when allowed to play make-believe. Television shows that could be run of the mill are turned into fairy-tales-gorgeously shot ones at that. Teaming with Michael Green (exec on the short-lived Kings), Fuller has the right eye to take on an adaptation of a book that deals with fantastical and macabre. Neil Gaiman is a science fiction hero, and although I never quite loved the one book of his I read (Neverwhere; I’ve heard isn’t his best), he certainly has a fascinating imagination which will mix well with Fuller’s love of all things otherworldly.
The book in question that the adaption will stem from is Gaiman’s popular and award winning American Gods. STARZ has picked up the series as a scripted drama that Gaiman will have a hand in producing. So, American Gods fans, who do you want cast in the lead roles? Who in your minds are the perfect Shadow, Laura and Mr. Wednesday? Are you trusting of the showrunners on board? Let us know in the comments who you wish to be cast!
For those new to the world, read the synopsis below.
A storm is coming….
Locked behind bars for 3 years, Shadow did his time, quietly waiting for the magic day when he could return to Eagle Point, Indiana. A man no longer scared of what tomorrow might bring, all he wanted was to be with Laura, the wife he deeply loved, and start a new life. But just days before his release, Laura and Shadow’s best friend are killed in an accident. With his life in pieces and nothing to keep him tethered, Shadow accepts a job from a beguiling stranger he meets on the way home, an enigmatic man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday. A trickster and rogue, Wednesday seems to know more about Shadow than Shadow does himself.
