August is a 23-year-old aspiring film critic and college graduate in Film/Media who hails from New Jersey. He began developing his taste and passion for film after starting high school, and just in the past few years has gotten back into television too. He also enjoys a good video game every now and then too when he isn't doing a Netflix marathon or keeping up with news in the entertainment industry. Often finds himself collecting books and comics more than he actually reads them. He started his own blog for film reviews entitled License to Review, on account of James Bond being his favorite series and character, and then followed that up by becoming the Entertainment Editor at his college newspaper. Ask him what his favorite anything is and he'll immediately jump to Aliens, Seinfeld, Led Zeppelin, and everything from Blizzard Entertainment and Naughty Dog.

With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. well into its sophomore year and four Netflix shows on the horizon, Marvel is looking to stake its place in a television landscape in which rival DC Comics has already firmly established itself with Arrow and…

Movie Review: The Interview (2014)

Is it worth it to make a movie that will anger one of the more dangerous world leaders out there? Is the movie even good enough to justify all the trouble it caused leading up to its eventual yet warped…

Battlestar Galactica 10 Years Later

Note: Yes, I’m aware that this piece is over a month late from the real anniversary. Yes, the show technically started with the miniseries in 2003. No, I don’t care, because I couldn’t resist the chance to write about this…

See the First Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Here

(Insert obvious “Many Bothans died…” joke) Being a Star Wars fan is hard. The merchandise overload is tiring, the last three movies were massive disappointments, and the franchise creator seems to be ashamed of his original trilogy work too much…

The Film Canon: Following (1998)

Once you reach the stars, perhaps it’s time to make a return trip to Earth. Writer/director Christopher Nolan’s hotly anticipated new film Interstellar has been described as his grandest and most ambitious work yet (if not necessarily his best), and…

Watch: Best Horror Heroes of Movies and Television

We talk about the monsters and villains of horror movies and television all the time, the Michaels, Freddys, Draculas, Predators, etc. It’s understandable, since the villains are often the most memorable parts of these tales, and many characters in the…

TV Review: Boardwalk Empire 5×08 – “Eldorado”

In spite of the numerous colorful characters that have popped up on Boardwalk Empire and evolved over the years (and then died brutal deaths, usually), this Prohibition gangster story has always been about Nucky Thompson. Even when the show digressed…
