Solo: A Star Wars Story Official Teaser Finally Takes Flight!

With a pending May release and no footage, many Star Wars fans were starting to worry about the state of Solo: A Star Wars Story. At least a little bit of that concern was assuaged after the first real look at Solo: A Star Wars Story debuted in a brief TV spot released during Super Bowl LII. And now, finally, you can watch the first official teaser trailer above!

We can now at least say we have an idea of what the film will be going for. You can see the cleaned-up halls of the Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover), a showdown on some sort of train, and new characters played by Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson. Han Solo himself appears and you can immediately see the swagger Alden Ehrenreich plans to bring to the role. The teaser is also jam-packed with plenty of action.

It’ll be interesting to see what the film has to offer once seen in its entirety. Ron Howard took over as director last year from previous directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord and Miller were reportedly let go from the project when their “vision and process weren’t aligned” with Lucasfilm, leading many to believe the conflict was over the humor in the movie. However, there is some noticeable humor, so at least it doesn’t look like it’ll be taking itself way too seriously.

What do you think about this first official teaser? Has your anticipation changed at all for Solo, or do you need to see more?

Solo: A Star Wars Story releases May 25, 2018.
