Interview: Writer/Director Azazel Jacobs for “The Lovers”

With very few exceptions, the Rom-Com genre has all but been broken down to a science. Their formulaic nature is one of the many reasons the category has the terrible, cringe-inducing reputation it so rightfully deserves. Azazel Jacobs shakes up this stale genre and delivers a refreshing, novel takes on “happily ever afters” and relationships in general in his latest film, The Lovers. I sit down with Azazel Jacobs and talk about his inspiration for The Lovers, working with talented actors like Debra Winger and Tracy Letts, his work on Mozart in the Jungle, the power of music and much more.
