SDCC ’17: Thor: Ragnarok leaves a mark in Hall H

While the fatigue for the genre is still lingering (especially for those who aren’t habitual movie goers) it’s undeniable that 2017 has been a banner year for superhero films so far. From the delightfully colorful sequel Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, to the record smashing Wonder Woman, the genre bending Logan or the sweet and down to earth Spider-Man: Homecoming, it’s been a year where superhero fans, both casual and enthusiastic, can be pleased when leaving the theater.

AND THAT’S NOT ALL FOLKS.

Because if you’re not convinced that Taikia Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok is going to be the best superhero film of the year, you’re simply wrong. Putting the mind behind Hunt for The Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows in the directors chair for arguably the downright silliest Avenger what one of the smartest moves that Marvel has ever taken. I refuse to believe that he was made to compromise on his vision. And the impression that the latest footage reveals seems to solidify that thought.

Thor: Ragnarok will burst into theaters November 3rd, 2017.

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.
